My Sculpture

On the 10th of March all the year 4, 5 and 6's went to Spencer Park and collected beach treasures.  I didn't get to collect sea treasures at Spencer Park.  Instead of going back to the beach I got to collect school treasures.  I collected stuff like branches and sticks I found on the ground.  I swapped some stuff with my friends as well.

This is what I created

I called my creation The Dolphin Tree Top.
My inspiration was a Christmas tree and my friends dolphin that she gave me.
I hope you have enjoyed my school sculpture.

Man In The Moon

W.A.L.T learning to summarize and retell the main ideas and important information from what I have read in my own words.

For reading we learnt about the moon. We had to make a mind mup to show facts about the moon and what we learnt.  One of my favorite facts is that the Moon is moving away from the Earth 4 center meters each year.  How sad.

The School Duatholon

On Thursday the 30th of March we had a Duatholon.  A Duatholon is like Cross Country but with a little bit less running.  We had a chance to bring our bikes and scooters and I bring my purple MGP scooter.  For our Duatholon we had to run from our school rugby post to the high school gates to pick up our wheels.  We had to zigzag the high school court twice then drop our wheels and run around our school field twice.

The first group to run was the year 5 boys then it was my groups turn (were the year 5 girls).  I was sprinting at the start to get to my scooter but some people were beating me through the gates.  I ran over the grass to start riding my scooter but some other bikers were beating me to the court.

We zigzagged down the court.  Up, down, up, down over and over again.  It was a while until I got to the running part again but I never gave up.  Going up and down the court toke me forever but I started to pass others like Mikayla and Jessica and Bailey.

Finally I got up to the field.  I got really tired but I started to jog a little bit faster.  As I got into the 2nd lap I started to sprint and run for the finish and as I thought I came 3rd some people ran in front of me but I still tried my best.  Instead of being 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th you just have to deal with what place you get.

Even though I didn't come first second or third I was still happy with my place.

Trip To Spencer Park

W.A.L.T Write an information report that informs the audience.

Success Criteria
I know I will be successful when….
  • I use an opening statement that explains the subject of the report.

  • The opening statement is followed by sentences that describe the event; what you saw, what you did, how you felt, what you learnt.
  • Each paragraph focuses on a different aspect of the topic; travelling, the beach, the lagoon walk, playground.
  • A general statement about the topic usually rounds off the report.

On Friday the 10th of March Ako Ngatahi, Ruma Toru, Ruma Wha and Wahi Ako (about 150 people) left school on blue buses to go to Spencer Park.  We had to get put into groups.  There was four groups and I was in group 2.  My teacher was Miss Millard and there was a lot of parent helpers.

The first place my group walked to was the Spencer Beach.  When we were on the way to the beach we walked a long way because there was a shortcut we didn’t take.  At the beach I dug a hole so deep it had water in it.  On the way back me Bailey and Mattisin were talking about what we were gonna play on the playground.

At the playground I had some lunch and played on the Climbing Web and the swings.  For lunch I had some salt and vinegar chips and Vegemite sandwiches.  It was very tasty.  On the swing set me and Jessica B were having a competition of who could swing the highest.  On the climbing web me and Jessica were having a competition of who could get up the top the fastest as well.

On the Lagoon walk I was tired as soon we started walking.  Jessica, Bailey and I were all the way back at the end of the group.  We were walking on a horse trail with lots of horse signs.  We strolled past lots of horse poop but the were no horse.  Not a single one in sight.  We stopped somewhere around a white 2 story house but I didn’t see any people either.  We had a little bit of a water break and then we turned around and wandered back to the playground.  But this time I wasn’t at the back of my group I was in the middle.  When we got back to the playground we got a mini afternoon tea.

At Spencer Park I had lots of fun with my friends and some things were tiring but they were really fun.
